Joseph Cranford began improvising in
Austin, Texas with Monks Night Out at The Velveeta Room on 6th Street.
He then studied Improvisation in Los Angeles with Improv Olympic West
and studied Spolin games with Viola's granddaughter, Aretha Sills.
Before moving to Chicago, he returned to Austin to direct the Cheese
Pistols, a short form improv group. Once in C-Town, he completed the
training programs of ImprovOlympic, Second City's Conservatory, and
Annoyance Productions. He is now performing with Moustache at Improv
Olympic, and The Resistance, an independent improv team who has performed
at IO, Donny's Skybox, and the Playground, and many other venues across
town. He recently produced Boots: Texas Hold 'Em at Donny's Skybox
Studio, also appearing at Juvie Hall in NY, NY. He will be in the
upcoming children's show, Hogwash, at ComedySportz, and recently performed
at the Annoyance Theatre with Hyperlinks and he was last seen in “Little
House on the Parody” as Almonzo Wilder at the Theater Building.
He has also been given the wonderful opportunity to improvise as a
guest at The Second City E.T.C. Thanks to MI, he was able to quit
his daytime job as a PO, and big thanks to his family for their continuous
love and support. JFS!!
